About JRF/NET

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and National Testing Academy (NTA) jointly conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and to endow Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).

The candidates who qualify the CSIR-UGC-JRF/NET Test will be eligible to perform the lectureship or research work in any prestigious Indian University or CSIR/UGC funded research centres.The NET/JRF Exam is surely a gateway to excellent career opportunities.

Candidates who get higher marks in the exam will be awarded CSIR and UGC JRF. The upper age limit for applying for the award of JRF shall be 28 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes/, Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and female applicants whereas 3 years in case of OBCs (Non-creamy layer candidates).

NET exam pattern

3 hrs, 200 marks paper is divided into 3 parts.

Part A- 30 marks General

20 questions of 2 marks each, out of which 15 questions needs to be answered. If you attempt more questions than prescribed then first 15 will be considered for valuation.

Part B- 70 marks Chemistry

40 questions of 2 marks each, out of which 35 questions needs to be answered. If you attempt more questions than prescribed then first 35 will be considered for valuation.

Part C- 100 marks Chemistry

60 questions of 4 marks each, out of which 25 questions need to be answered. If you attempt more questions than prescribed then the first 25 will be considered for valuation.

Negative mark- 1/4 for all wrong answers.
