ALL ABOUT HSA EXAM
HSA stands for High School Assistant (Teacher). They are appointed to the Kerala Government Education Department. Public Service Commission (PSC) is the authorised body that appoints the selected candidates as High School teachers to the various government High Schools.
About HSA
Candidates who possess the required educational qualifications (mentioned below) between the ages of 18 and 40 can apply. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC category can avail upper age relaxation.
Kerala PSC HSA Age Limit
- The age limit for HSA exam General Category candidates is 18-40 years.
- The upper age limit for HSA exam OBC candidates is 43 years.
- The upper age limit for HSA exam SC/ST applicants to apply is 45 years.
HSA exam qualification
- A Degree in the concerned subject conferred or recognized by the universities in Kerala.
- Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET)
- B.Ed/B.T/L.T in the same subject conferred or recognized by the universities in Kerala.
How to Apply For Kerala High School Assistant (HSA) Examination
- Eligible candidates can apply for the HSA exam through Kerala PSC Thulasi One Time Registration portal.
- After logging in to the website using the user id and password (created by you while registering), you should look under the notification tab.
- Check for High School Assistant notification and click apply.

HSA Exam Pattern
The candidate must choose their preferred medium (language) of examination in the application form. The available mediums are Tamil/ English/ Kannada/ Malayalam/ Arabic/ Sanskrit/ Hindi. The Kerala PSC HSA Question Paper will be in the language/medium selected by the candidate.
- The exam is in Offline mode.
- The exam pattern is Objective type.
- The total number of questions is 100.
- Each right answer carries one mark.
- 0.33 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- The duration of the examination is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- The question paper has two parts A and B.
Part A is the common paper for all.
Part B is the core subject in which the applicant has the degree.
Syllabus for Kerala PSC HSA Exam
